Creation Science Notes...July 2000, part IIIFrom a geological standpoint of millions of years, trilobites (a marine based bug with three lobes, hence tri-lobe-bite, with incredibly complicated eyes) have been extinct for some 500 million years. Intelligent man was not supposed to show up until 20,000 years ago. Yet, here we have a startling discovery: A Fossilized Sandal print with a trilobite imbedded in the print!
This print was found by William Meister and his wife while out hunting for trilobites in 1968 near Anlopes Springs. The shale the print is petrified in is dated at around 600Ma (600 Million Years Ago, 600 Mega Annum). Unfortunately I did not get a close up of the sandal print itself as even the stitching in the sandal was preserved in the print. As you can see in the high resolution image, both the print itself and the mating infill show the print and trilobite clearly. Not only does this fossil bring over 500 million years of earths history
together into one day, it shows that intelligent man (i.e. Homo
Sapiens Sapiens) dwelt contemporaneously with trilobites. We will
discuss this at more length in other lessons.
